Note: All meals included in this itinerary are listed as: ( B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner )
Day 0: WHITEHORSE, YUKON
Hopefully you enjoyed your travels and have arrived safely in Whitehorse, the capital city, nestled among the wilderness.
Please arrive in Whitehorse in time for an orientation meeting at 7:00
pm the night before our departure. Guests are responsible for
accommodation and meals while in Whitehorse. Whitehorse is a splendid
little city and we recommend booking some additional time at either the
beginning or the end of your trip to see Whitehorse.
Please Note: Often our guests choose to come to the Yukon several days early, or to depart several days after their wilderness vacation. Therefore we don't include accommodation in Whitehorse in order to provide flexibility for our guests. If you prefer, we can easily arrange your hotel accommodations in Whitehorse and add these details to your itinerary.
Day 1: To Kluane National Park ( L, D)
8:00 am – Pick up guests from their hotel in Whitehorse. Please have your breakfast (not included) finished by this time. After taking care of any final details we will depart Whitehorse heading west on the famous Alaska Highway towards Kluane National Park. The drive is very scenic with constant views of the Coastal Mountains to our south. As we approach Haines Junction, the youngest mountains of North America, the Wrangell-St. Elias Mountains of Kluane rise up in front of us. In Haines Junction we will visit the National Park office and then continue on our way towards the Mush Lake Road. After traveling the rugged 4x4 road we will reach Mush Lake by late afternoon. Here we will make camp for the night and enjoy our first evening in the Kluane wilderness and the land of the midnight sun.
Day 2-5: Canoeing (B, L, D)
Over the next three days we will explore Mush and Bates Lakes by canoe according to the interests and energy of our group, taking plenty of time for fishing and hiking as desired.
Day 6: Canoeing: Shuttle to Whitehorse (B, L, D)
After yet another delicious breakfast we have one final chance to travel by canoe upon these majestic Yukon Lakes. We return to our vehicle by noon and after our last picnic lunch commence our return journey to Whitehorse, arriving by late afternoon with fond memories of Kluane National Park. Dinner and hotel not included in Whitehorse (but easily added to your itinerary if requested)
