Many people who have not spent time in the northern mountains of fall are unaware of how spectacular alpine fall colours are during this season. Fall comes early to the high alpine areas of the Yukon and at a time which most people still think of as summer, the plants of the sub-arctic alpine begin shutting down and preparing for the long hibernation of winter.
